Dig & Clean Beginner Guide: The Full Loop in Five Minutes

Last updated: 2026-08-08 ยท Play on Roblox โ†—

Four steps, on repeat. Everything else in the game is a variation on this loop.

1. Detect

Equip the detector and walk the sandy area. It projects a light cone and rings onto the ground, and a buried item shows as a glowing spot. Better detectors surface better spots โ€” late-game footage showed purple, orange and yellow high-tier markers.

2. Dig

Switch to the shovel, click the glowing spot, then click rapidly to fill the dig meter and pull the item out.

If your shovel is too weak, you get:

"You need a stronger shovel to dig this!"

The item is lost, and the game immediately offers to recover it for 249 Robux. Note the offer shows the rarity as 1 in ??? โ€” you're asked to pay without being told what for. The Stone Shovel that prevents most of these costs 29 Robux, about one eighth as much, permanently.

3. Clean

Carry the dirty block to the CLEANING station table, equip the spray bottle, and spray until it's clean. Only now does the game reveal the item's name, weight, condition and rarity.

This step is why the biggest beginner mistake is selling early โ€” see below.

4. Display or sell

  • Museum: walk the cleaned item to an empty display stand on the pier. It starts producing income per second.
  • Sell: talk to the merchant NPC at the SELL booth for instant cash.

Which to choose has a clear answer, and it's not the obvious one โ€” see the museum guide.

The three mistakes that cost the most

1. Selling before cleaning. You cannot see rarity or condition on a dirty block. Footage showed one cleaning into a Dino Skull, Perfect condition, 1 in 2,937,020, valued at 1.5M. Always clean first.

2. Selling anything you could display instead. Museum income per second comes out roughly equal to an item's sale price, so a displayed item earns its whole sale value back every second. Sell only what won't fit on a stand. The numbers are here.

3. Paying the 249-Robux recovery. It's a one-time rescue at eight times the price of the permanent fix. If it's happening often, buy a shovel.

What to upgrade first

The shovel, and it isn't close โ€” it's the only tool that stops you outright. The detector changes what you find and the spray changes how fast you process it; neither loses you an item.

Full price tables for all three tracks: gear upgrades.

Where to go next

Once you have around 1.1M cash, the pirate at the boat sells passage to Shipwreck Cove โ€” a 2ร— luck area that also showed a 2ร— gold banner. Because item value climbs steeply with rarity, that multiplier often beats another tool tier at the same price. See islands.

Codes

We found no working codes and no sign that Dig & Clean has a redemption system. Verification notes on the codes status page.
