Speed Monkey Escape Tail List: Prices and the Constant 40% Efficiency Rule

Tails are bought with Wins and raise the rate at which you gain speed. They are the main thing Wins are for.

The Wins ladder

TailSpeedWins
Starter+10
Grey Tail+23
Tiger Tail+415
Golden Tail+322,500
Magma Tail+6415,000
โ€”+12875,000
โ€”+256375,000
โ€”+5122,000,000
โ€”+8M30 Qa
โ€”+16M200 Qa
โ€”+32M2 Qi
โ€”+64M900 Qi
Galaxy Tail+128M900 Qi

(Qa = quadrillion, Qi = quintillion, as displayed in game.)

The rule the shop is built on

Work out speed per Win at each tier and a very deliberate pattern appears:

StepSpeed goesPrice goesEfficiency drops to
Grey โ†’ Tigerร—2ร—5.040%
Golden โ†’ Magmaร—2ร—6.033%
Magma โ†’ +128ร—2ร—5.040%
+128 โ†’ +256ร—2ร—5.040%
+256 โ†’ +512ร—2ร—5.337%

Every tier doubles your speed and costs about five times more.

So your Wins-per-speed gets roughly 60% worse with every single upgrade, at every point in the game, forever. There is no efficiency sweet spot to save for โ€” this is not like games where a mid-tier item is secretly the best buy.

What that means practically

Buy the best tail you can afford, immediately, always. Saving Wins is strictly worse than spending them, because:

  • the tier you're saving for will be exactly as inefficient when you reach it
  • meanwhile your current tail is earning speed more slowly than it needs to be
  • speed is what produces the Wins in the first place

The one exception is the jump from Tiger (+4, 15 Wins) to Golden (+32, 2,500 Wins) โ€” a 167ร— price increase for 8ร— the speed, the single worst step in the ladder. There is nothing offered in between, so you simply have to grind through that gap.

Trails and auras

The same currency also buys cosmetics, which do not affect speed:

  • Trails: Red (1K Wins), Blue (30K Wins), then Robux-only tiers
  • Auras: Amber (5K Wins), Ice Cold (150K Wins), Nature (4M Wins), then Robux-only tiers

Every Win spent here is a Win not spent on speed. Buy them when you've stopped caring about progression speed, not before.

The Shadow Tail exception

Shadow Tail โ€” 280 Robux โ€” gives ร—4 your best tail's speed.

This is worth calling out because it's a multiplier on your best tail, not a fixed value. Unlike a fixed +512, it keeps growing as you climb the ladder, so it doesn't fall behind. It's the only paid tail item in our footage that scales with progression.

We're describing what it does, not recommending it โ€” see the Robux shop page for how the paid options compare.
